Built during the 1920's, this beautiful Art Deco hotel looms impressively at the corner of 34th Street and 8th Avenue in New York City. This hotel, the New Yorker, is a landmark in the city with its rich history and famous red sign that can be seen glowing throughout the night.
Without even setting foot inside, you can immediately tell that the New Yorker was designed with the architectural flair and glamour of the 1920's. Bold Art Deco letters signal your arrival at the hotel's entrance and incredibly detailed bronze motifs, which were popular during the era, can be seen surrounding the perimeter.
Besides the fact that the hotel is a stately homage to the 1920's, the New Yorker seemed like the perfect place for a photo shoot because it personally holds a special place in my heart. This hotel was where my grandparents spent their honeymoon in the 1940's. This is also where I spent many trips to the city before officially moving here in 2015. I had looked down at the bustling city through the windows of this hotel, my eyes wide with awe, dreaming about the day I would finally live here.
And now that I do live here, what better way to pay tribute to this magnificent hotel than with a photo shoot for 42 Dubonnet? The speakeasy-themed 42 Dubonnet products seemed to really come alive here, as did the models wearing them. With the New Yorker as the backdrop and all of the beautiful 42 Dubonnet products to get us in character, it felt like we had been transported back in time for an afternoon.
Since red lips were all the rage in the 1920's, model Sophie Shinn decided to recreate a classic glam look with this beautiful matte ruby red lip. To keep the focus on the lipstick, she went for a more subtle makeup look on her eyes, choosing sleek winged eyeliner, shadow to brighten her eyes, and a few coats of mascara.
For this classic glam look, Sophie is wearing:
FRESH AND COLORFUL
For a more modern look, model Brynn Chingery chose to play with color and create contrast between her eye makeup and lipstick. To frame her bright blue eyes, she created a blue smoky eye by layering and blending two different blue shadows and one black shadow. To add some definition to her lashes, she lined her eyes with black gel eyeliner, and finished with several coats of mascara. On her lips, Brynn chose a matte pinky nude shade to offset the bold blue.
For this fresh and colorful look, Brynn is wearing:
With the third and final look of the photoshoot, model Hailey Shadle looked sophisticated yet sassy with glossy fuchsia lips and a sharp black cat eye. To make the black gel liner stand out and look as sleek as possible, she opted for a light yet brightening shade of eyeshadow on her lids and in the inner corners of her eyes. While 42 Dubonnet lipsticks are smooth and matte, Hailey chose to add a sheer pink gloss over her radiant pink lipstick to make it even more dramatic.
For this bold, sassy look, Hailey is wearing:
We all had so much fun creating different looks with 42 Dubonnet products, exploring the hotel, and seeing the final photos from the shoot.
Thank you so much again to my beautiful models, Sophie Shinn, Brynn Chingery and Hailey Shadle, for beautifully showcasing the products and bringing your own glamour to each and every photo.
