The Inside Scoop

Just over a week ago we shot our very first tutorials along with our first "About Us" video. The experience was exciting (and exhausting).

From the moment I woke up that morning I felt the pressure and critical nature of making this day successful...and the videos successful.

First was styling the hair just right. Not only mine, but my mom's and the model's hair. I felt a little rusty on my 1920s hairstyling techniques. The last time I had to do this was for theater over a decade ago. Even after practicing the day before and checking out a few YouTube videos, I still felt nervous about how it would turn out. (Fingers crossed you like it!)

Pro Makeup Artist Agnieszka Wood, @thevisagiste (recently did Paris Hilton's makeup), began the makeup while I styled the hair. Before we knew it, it was time to step on set.

Our first shot was to share with you our story of how are got started, what inspired us to work together as a mother-daughter duo and why we created the products we did.

Just like the story of our brand, we wanted the setting to feel like you were in 42 Dubonnet's speakeasy.

My mom was a natural in front of the camera. Only one take on any of her parts. For me we had do a few takes, the words kept jumbling up on me. Some days the words flow so easily and other days they just don't. Fortunately, we were working with a very talented team from Only1 Studios.

I had worked with them before on my Crème de Mint video, so I was thrilled to be working with them again. They always bring out the best in me. I knew that I was in good hands.

Next, we planned the studio shot for the the tutorials. We brought a few "just-in-case" props; one was our trade show booth backdrop. Thank goodness we did - this we ended up using as our studio backdrop. It looked amazing and really brought everything together.

First, we shot the intro to the two tutorials. Agnieszka and I couldn't stop cracking each other up...someone must have slipped us giggle juice, lol. I was nearly in tears I was laughing so hard.

The first tutorial was an innocent daytime look.

The second was an evening, mysterious, sultry, alluring look.

The last shot was our model, Stephanie, on her own in a speakeasy. This is where she brings the mystery of 42 Dubonnet alive.

I'm so excited for our videos. In less than two weeks we pulled this all together. What an absolute pleasure to work with so many amazing and talented people.

I can't wait to show you our finished videos and hear what you think. Stay tuned!
