This month we are featuring Nikki Arnold a.k.a. The Fashionable Accountant, accountant by trade but Fashionista at heart. She shows women how to have style and look chic without breaking the bank, so you aren’t spending a million bucks, but are surely feeling like it! She shares with us her top beauty tips, how she got started and the most forbidden thing she's ever done (which happened going to the beach!)
42 DUBONNET: Tell us about you.
NIKKI: I was raised on the West coast of Cali and then shifted my life across the country to the East coast, landing here in Central, FL. So, Hollywood glam with a bit of southern flair is my signature look. Ever since that moment at 12 years old, I have been 1920’s obsessed. I feel most at home in a pair of heels and a dress and have always pictured myself living back in the 1920’s or old Hollywood era. I am most definitely a girly girl.
I am Accountant by trade and a Fashionista at heart. I think every business woman, college student, and mother is looking have a sense of style and class, all while trying to save every buck we can! So, that’s where I come in! With my knowledge and experience, I created a blog, The Fashionable Accountant, for tips on shopping your wardrobe; traveling on a budget; inspirations for you to explore healthy, quick, and inexpensive meals; and financial tips for improving your credit and paying off debts. I show you how to have style and look chic without breaking the bank, so you aren’t spending a million bucks, but are surely feeling like it! I promise, it’s within everyone’s reach!
42 DUBONNET:What inspires you?
Fashion inspires me. I wanted to go to design school so when that didn’t happen I started a blog as a creative outlet. I’m definitely that person who’s overdressed for every occasion. I want to show the world that creativity.
42 DUBONNET: And tell us which products you are wearing in your photo?
42 DUBONNET: What’s one secret you learned when you started wearing / doing makeup?
NIKKI: I learned a lot of stuff from Angela Lanter’s YouTube videos. She has a lot of great tips, from A-Z, like how to put on eye lashes and her videos are always very detailed in everything she teaches.
42 DUBONNET: What’s one of your secrets for how you do your own makeup?
NIKKI: Put on eye shadow first before foundation or anything else because if you don’t then there’s often fallout and then you have to touch up. So always eye makeup first!
42 DUBONNET: What’s one of the juiciest secrets you’ve ever been told (one that won’t get you in trouble for sharing it)?
NIKKI: As much as I stress to people to be careful with their skin. My deep dark secret is I'm a pop-a-holic. What's this you may ask?? I'm an awful pimple popper! I not only always pop my own, but I chase down my fiance to pop his as well haha. If you are a pimple popper as well, then you may enjoy watching Dr. Pimple Popper on YouTube.
42 DUBONNET: What’s one thing you’re curious about?
NIKKI: In the makeup world, I’m always curious about how to achieve the perfect brow. It’s hard because styles change. I always want to know how to get them right.
42 DUBONNET: What’s the most forbidden thing you’ve ever done?
NIKKI: In high school, I visited one of my girl friends in California and at night we snuck out of the window to go to the beach. But we got caught because my friend’s little brother who was 6 came into her room during the night and saw we weren’t there and went to their parents and told them. They were waiting for us when we got back and then we were in major trouble. I heard about it from my parents over the phone and then again when I got back home.
42 DUBONNET: What’s your favorite look to create?
NIKKI: I love old school Hollywood with the bold red lip, cat eye, full lashes and defined brows.
42 DUBONNET: What’s one secret to creating this look?
NIKKI: Definitely use the tool Liner Designer by Beauty Blender. It’s a rubber tool shaped in a curved triangle. You hold it at the corner of your eye to get the perfect cat eye and it makes it easier to make sure both eyes look the same. You can also use it for lips when you do your cupid’s bow.
42 DUBONNET: Do you have a photo you'd like to share with us of this look?
42 DUBONNET: Thank you Nikki for interviewing with us! How can our readers follow you or learn more about you?
