In this month's Alluring Interview, we are featuring Desireé Delia, a New York City makeup artist whose work you'll see on the New York and Paris runaways as well as in countless publications. She shares with us her favorite beauty secret, who inspired her to be a makeup artist and her most recent proudest career accomplishment, her coloring book.

42 DUBONNET: Tell us about you.

DESIREÉ: My name is Desireé Delia. I am a makeup artist in New York City. I discovered my talent for makeup as a model but I always owed my passion for beauty to my late grandmother, “The Beauty Queen,” who never left home without her lipstickshe was the cutest thing. Over the past 5 years in NYC, I have worked with celebrities in fashion, music, television, and film. My work can be seen on the runways in New York and Paris, Vogue Italia, IRK Paris, imirage Magazine, Volition, Southern Living, and others. I trained with Chic Studios NYC and Makeup Mastered, working with artists from 80 different countries. I have a BS and MBA and publishing my first Makeup inspired coloring book with Authorhouse. What inspires me is the beauty in people, places, and things.

42 DUBONNET: Tell us more about the coloring book you mentioned. When is it coming out?

DESIREÉ: The coloring book is a makeup artist inspired book made for all. It’s a book of real images focused on the face, eyes, or lips that you color to create your own makeup image. I love coloring and think it’s very therapeutic to create beautiful images so I saw this as a way to incorporate that with my passion for makeup.

Create Your Own Makeup Image” is launching this holiday season and can be found on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

42 DUBONNET: What is your proudest career accomplishment?

DESIREÉ: This is such a hard question to answer because at one point or another every accomplishment was my proudest. Last year it was doing makeup at Paris Fashion Week, a few weeks ago was being featured in Vogue Italia, then it was was working with a celebrity I had been wanting to work with. Today, it's my coloring book I've been working on.

42 DUBONNET: What’s one secret you learned when you started wearing / doing makeup?
DESIREÉ: One of the first secrets I learned when I started wearing makeup was putting a darker eyeshadow in the crease (Contour) of the eye. It was fun, I used to wear a lot of makeup and experiment with a lot of different colors when I was younger.

42 DUBONNET: What’s one of your secrets for how you do your own makeup?

DESIREÉ: The secrets for my makeup routine are simple I spent the majority of the time on skin care. I'm a big skin care junkie. Clean, bright, even toned skin is my secret. The rest is simple. A quick lash curl and a killer lip.

42 DUBONNET: What’s one of the juiciest secrets you’ve ever been told?

DESIREÉ: I honestly can't remember. I'm bad! You can tell me anything, I'll forget 10 minutes later, lol

42 DUBONNET: What’s one thing you’re curious about?

DESIREÉ: What it's like to be bilingual. I've always wanted to be fluent in another language. I admire people that are.

42 DUBONNET: What’s the most forbidden thing you’ve ever done?

DESIREÉ: According to the rules of "Makeup" or in life? ;) If you follow all the rules you're not having any fun. If I had to give one example I would say the most forbidden thing I’ve ever done was leaving a job without another one lined up to pursue my passions on an instinctual feeling that it was all going to work out.

42 DUBONNET: What’s your favorite look to create?

DESIREÉ: A monochromatic eye, dewy skin, a little highlight and a gorgeous lip.
